Isn’t it amazing how one can start to feel the energy picking up in Gauteng as we approach spring – a great time of the year indeed. It’s August and a lot is happening in the world of tax and numbers.
End of August marks the deadline for the first provisional tax return/payment (if you have a February yearend). All our monthly clients should have received their calculations by now – if not, please make contact with your accountant.
Many people are speculating about a potential stock market crash, we received an email from Charles Hattingh with his view on this and posted an extract below. An interesting read. The stock market has always been a great investment outperforming any other form of investing (including property) in the long term. If you have spare cash lying around – maybe this is for you.
To our clients, thank you for your continued and loyal support. We are as always hard at work to simplify your finances and to add value to your business.
It’s an honour to serve you!

IS THE JSE HEADING FOR A CRASH
The top 10 shares in the Alsi account for just under 60% of the total index. Here is an analysis of the gains for the year July 2013 – June 2014:
Charles Hatting’s view on this:
The top 10 shares for the year ended 28 February 2014 gained 30% compared to the rest of the Alsi which only gained 5%. I really get annoyed when I hear or read stories that the market is going to crash. Asset managers are panicking as they are sitting with huge cash balances and have been waiting for this event for ages now and are getting desperate so are trying to talk the market down. A recent story in the Citizen stated that we could see a 40% correction in the JSE if RSA’s bonds are further downgraded. Give me a break! Study the shares above. How many of them will “crash” if SA interest rates go up? They make up 60% of the Alsi. You make up your mind.
