Junior Accountant

About the position

Manage a portfolio of clients while learning the ropes under the mentorship of a qualified Chartered Accountant CA(SA).

Our Junior Accounting Programme allows you to apply all the experience you’ve learned during your articles, while gaining the needed confidence to become an Account Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Maintaining an agreed book value under the supervision of a Partner
  • Recording and reconciling financial transactions on a regular basis
  • Assisting in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations
  • Supporting senior accountants in conducting financial audits, including collecting and analyzing financial data and verifying financial records
  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
  • Assisting in the analysis and interpretation of financial data to provide insights and recommendations to clients
  • Assisting in the maintenance and organization of client records and financial documents
  • Assisting in the review and analysis of clients' financial processes to identify areas for improvement
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and projects
  • Staying up to date with accounting principles, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of accounting systems and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Participating in training sessions and professional development activities to enhance accounting knowledge and skills

What you need to qualify

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero) and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • SARS and e-filing experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • A bachelor's or honours degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Understanding of tax regulations and relevant laws
  • Completed articles – SAIPA, SAICA and CIMA
